Glen Carlou Winery
Glen Carlou Winery
Of the 31 blocks currently planted, which reach up to 230 m above sea level, each is farmed according to its own unique location. The vineyards benefit from the cold southerly wind that blows in from False Bay. This almost daily phenomenon allows the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to grow particularly well, as the cooler night temperatures preserve the grapes' natural acids and important pH levels.

Winemaker: Johnnie Calitz
After his studies in viticulture at the University of Stellenbosch, which he completed with a Bachelor of Science in 2004, he worked as a winemaker at the Anura winery neighbouring Glen Carlou and received several awards with his wines. Johnnie Calitz prefers to work with the grape varieties Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, but regardless of the grape variety, his approach is to intervene as little as possible in the process.
