Beau Constantia Winery
The Winery Beau Constantia is situated on the hills of the mountain pass Constantia Nek, overlooking False Bay. The special feature of this location is the short distance to the sea, and thus the associated cooling of the vines by the fresh sea breeze. Due to the very high altitude of the vineyards, which are located 350 m above sea level on the Constantia mountain range, only 3-6 tons of wine per hectare are harvested by hand.
The very steep slopes of the vineyard enable the production of highly concentrated wines. This combination shapes the strong heritage character of Beau Constantia 's award-winning portfolio.

Winemaker: Megan van der Merwe
Megan van der Merwe is the youngest winemaker in the Constantia Valley. Besides the development of the wines, above anything, her heart beats for nature. For this reason, Megan believes that one should interfere as little as possible in the processes that take place from the vine to the wine. That is why Megan spends most of her time on site in the vineyards.
Megan van der Merwe began her career by studying viticulture and oenology at the university of Stellenbosch. Shortly after graduating in 2014, she started as an assistant Winemaker at Constantia Glen. There, she had her first contact with the wines of Beau Constantia. In the following years, she spent a lot of time chasing the sun around the world. In 2017, for example, she worked in Paso Robles in California and in 2018 in the Rhône Valley in the Chateauneuf du Pape region. Nevertheless, Megan travelled back to South Africa every year during the South African harvest so as not to miss the vintage at Constantia Glen.
As someone who loves to learn and grow, Megan was immediately ready to take over the reins at Beau Constantia. In 2019, her success story at Beau Constantia began with her first harvest of her own.

Cuvée wine
Cuvées are among the most expensive wines in the world. Bordeaux wines from France or premium wines from the Rioja region in Spain are also among the most expensive wines. Cuvées. In addition, the best champagnes in the world are mostly cuvée champagnes, consisting of the following grape varieties Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.
South Africa also produces excellent wines, mainly due to its historical ties to the French wine world . Cuvées are produced.
But what is a cuvée anyway?
Basically, cuvée means the blending of a wine from different grape varieties in a fermentation tank. The blending of grapes from different vine yards also leads to a wine being called a cuvée. There are basically two different times when different sites and grape varieties can be blended.
Some winegrowers already blend the grapes during pressing. As a result, the blended grapes ferment together in the fermentation tank. However, subsequent bl ending is used more frequently. Here, wines that have already fer mented are blended together in order to mature together during storage.

Taxes, duties and charges in the EU
All taxes, duties and charges for Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, Malta, Austria, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Cyprus (Greek part only) are included in our prices.
The following countries levy an excise duty on wine (as of May 2020): Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Poland. Due to their transport within the EU internal market, postal items from countries of the European Union are regularly not handled by the customs administration. These items are therefore generally delivered directly to you without incurring import duties. This does not mean, however, that the goods are generally duty-free. Under certain conditions, postal items sent within the EU may also be checked. For this purpose, the customs authorities may have postal items opened and check whether they contain goods that are subject to excise duty or whether their import, transit or export violate legal prohibitions and restrictions. The secrecy of letters and mail is restricted in this respect. If they receive goods subject to excise duty, you are generally obliged to report this to the relevant customs office and, if necessary, to pay duties.
Due to legal regulations we only deliver to persons over 18 years of age. This can be checked by our forwarding agent. Therefore, please make sure that a person of full age can accept the delivery.
