Winemaker: Johan Joubert
Johan Rupert is definitely one of the faces of the South African wine world.
It all started at Elsenburg Agricultural College, where Johan gained his tertiary qualification as a winemaker.
This was followed by prominent stints at well-known South African wineries such as Murati, Windmeul, Bovlei, Boland Cellar and Kleine Zalze.
After college, Johan soon proved to be one of South Africa's most promising young winemakers. Johan was the youngest winemaker to win the coveted General Smuts Trophy at the SA Young Wine Show.
After initially working at Boland Cellar as a winemaker, he moved to Kleine Zalze in 2002 where, among other things, he produced many award-winning wines, which earned him another award as best South African producer in 2007.
In 2014, he returned "home" to Boland Cellar to take up the position of cellar master.
