Winery Iona
At the beginning of 1997, Andrew Gunn, a trained engineer, was thinking about his next career move. Having always loved the outdoors, the prospect of a farm appealed to him.
After months of searching and 40 farm visits later, Andrew and his very tired real estate agent came across a lonely, run-down apple farm on a mountaintop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean - the vision of the winery Iona was born.
The philosophy of Iona is to produce wines that reflect the soils and climate as well as possible. This is done using sustainable farming methods and maximising the use of natural products in agriculture and winemaking. Everything is done on the winery. From the vineyard to wine distribution, Iona is the sole source of focus, passion and great joy for Andrew and his wife Rozy.

What Werner loves about making wine are the new challenges that each new harvest and vintage brings. Werner's philosophy is to reflect the characteristics of the pure grapes - in his opinion, a great vintage is one that shows the hallmarks and terroir of the vineyard site.
Werner has a passion for Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon blends.
