Winery Kleine Zalze
In the heart of the picturesque Stellenbosch region lies a centuries-old jewel - the winery Kleine Zalze. Adjacent to the provincial town of Stellenbosch, affectionately known as "Little Europe", Kleine Zalze offers a wide range of award-winning wines.
The vineyards of the winery Kleine Zalze are situated on different slopes and have different soil characteristics. A fresh sea breeze blows from the coast, which is only 15 kilometres away, providing a cool climate, optimal growing and ripening conditions and therefore pronounced fruit aromas in the wines. The estate also offers a variety of attractions, including the critically acclaimed gourmet restaurant, breathtaking hiking and cycling routes, the renowned De Zalze golf course and the luxurious four-star Cape Dutch-style lodge.

Winemaker: Alastair Rimmer, RJ Botha
Alastair's wine journey began in Stellenbosch, after which he was inspired to switch his studies from horticulture to viticulture. His international experience in diverse regions of Spain, New Zealand, the USA and South Africa has helped to focus on the 'important' elements of winemaking, emphasising terroir as well as climatic conditions.
RJ has been with the winery since 2012 Kleine Zalze. His special talent, as well as his meticulous attention to detail, contribute to Kleine Zalze receiving numerous international awards every year, such as Platter's Wine Guide, Michelangelo International Wine Awards and Mundus Vini.
Henning Retief gained valuable experience on some of the leading farms in the Stellenbosch- and Robertson Valley after studying viticulture in Elsenberg. Henning Retief has been with Kleine Zalze since 2006. One of his highlights to date was winning the winery the Winemaker's Choice Award 2009 for Best Producer of the Year. Henning's continues to push the boundaries of quality at Kleine Zalze and is always looking for innovative techniques to improve the quality of Kleine Zalze .
Looking forward, the three winemakers want to continue the history and positively differentiate themselves from other wineries through new creations.

Switzerland - Shipping to German border countries
A cheaper and similarly expensive alternative is to have the wine delivered to German border countries and do the customs clearance yourself. You will then get back the German VAT, have a free volume of 5 litres per person and pay 2 CHF customs duty for each additional litre.
We also deliver free of charge within Germany starting at 120€ purchase value. Furthermore you don't have to coordinate with the parcel service and make sure that someone present as soon as the delivery arrives.
If you don't have the option of having the goods delivered to friends in the border countries, we can deliver the wine to a UPS Access Point to the border near your home. You don't need to register, there are no additional costs and you can collect your wines at the Acess Point within a certain time frame.
There are also various providers of parcel shops where you can have your package picked up for a small fee, e.g. SWISS-PAKET - with branches in Waldshut-Tiengen, Laufenburg, Weil am Rhein, Jestetten & Rheinfelden or EURORETOUR - with branches in Waldshut-Tiengen, Laufenburg, Weil am Rhein & Konstanz.
On request we will send you an export receipt which you can have stamped at customs and send back to us. We will then refund you the German VAT minus a handling fee of 12,00€.
Please note the opening hours of the customs offices! The customs offices usually close on Saturday at 13:00 and are closed on Sunday! For more information about opening hours and customs clearance please visit https://www.ezv.admin.ch.
For the customs declaration you just have to pull over at the border. You can pay with your EC card and pass the customs queue comfortably.
The officials are friendly and you can also get competent information by phone.
Please note that this form of reimbursement involves costs and effort. Therefore, we always deduct 12,00 € from the VAT amount to be refunded for these expenses.
Taxes, duties and charges in the EU
All taxes, duties and charges for Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, Malta, Austria, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Cyprus (Greek part only) are included in our prices.
The following countries levy an excise duty on wine (as of May 2020): Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Poland. Due to their transport within the EU internal market, postal items from countries of the European Union are regularly not handled by the customs administration. These items are therefore generally delivered directly to you without incurring import duties. This does not mean, however, that the goods are generally duty-free. Under certain conditions, postal items sent within the EU may also be checked. For this purpose, the customs authorities may have postal items opened and check whether they contain goods that are subject to excise duty or whether their import, transit or export violate legal prohibitions and restrictions. The secrecy of letters and mail is restricted in this respect. If they receive goods subject to excise duty, you are generally obliged to report this to the relevant customs office and, if necessary, to pay duties.
Due to legal regulations we only deliver to persons over 18 years of age. This can be checked by our forwarding agent. Therefore, please make sure that a person of full age can accept the delivery.
